Data-driven administrative advocacy to drive statewide excellence sounds like a headache, but rest assured, it’s not so bad! The Alliance to Transform CalFresh has developed tools to better understand the seemingly complicated numbers that CDSS and County CalFresh Administrations use to describe the CalFresh participation rates in more detail.
To begin, take a look at your County Specific Data. See if what you are seeing or hearing in your county is reflected in the data. This is a great opportunity t0 start a conversation with your county about obtaining more detail data.
Then see how your county stacks up to the state’s overall participation rate and other counties’ participation, timeliness, dual participation and churn numbers in the Analysis of State Trends document prepared by Diana Jensen of SF-Marin Food Bank.
Once you have had time to think about where your county stands, you may want to use the Road Maps assessment tool. The Road Maps were designed to help you navigate a series of questions that will better illustrate how your county engages with the strategies of Quick, Consistent, and Connected.
